Accepting the fact that, yes I do have to grow up...and being OK with it
I never really wanted to grow up. I liked being a kid and I wanted to stay a kid forever. But slowly I began to realize that all those fun kid things I used to do I didn't do so much anymore. I had more responsibility. I had to keep track of my own money. I had more homework in school. The realization continued through the beginning of college. I am changing though. I know that I am no longer a kid. At heart, maybe, but in reality, I am growing up. Now, I am ready to be that grown-up. I want my own place to live. I am getting tired of sharing a bathroom and a bedroom. (Yes, I love my roommate, but we are still sharing a tiny room). I am tired of not having a kitchen and having the extent of my cooking be heating up something in the microwave. I am ready to get a job and normalize my life a bit. And I know I can still keep the coloring books and crayons nearby just in case.
208 days until graduation. Then my life will be changing. Until then, although I am ready for college to be over, I am going to continue to enjoy my fabulous roomie, great friends and have a great time. :)

Growing up requires becoming centered. Being centered means that you have real purpose. The one thing most often left out in schools is learning how to discover our personal Mission. Finding this makes all the difference. The power of a simple, positive Purpose for what we do is immense.
Knowing that you have found it means that you can verbalize it without embarassment, are wise enough to change it, and have a wide open mind to continue learning. Hey, I know. I'm 61 to look at, but I'm really only 13 inside. I know what my purpose is in life and the best news is that the lady I'm married to, Louise, has the same purpose.
Quite simply: Our Mission or Purpose in life is to be of service to others.
We accomplish it daily. Awesome!
For the young none of this is easy to accomplish at first and sometimes it's a pretty damn painful journey.
I would say, Meet the chalanges with a glad heart, an open mind, an insatiable lust for knowledge, a kind hand for those in need, and therein you will be safe and secure, even when those around you are shrinking in fear. At that time you will truly come to know leadership. Thanks for listening.
