Job Search Woes

Let's start off with the fact that I now have a Bachelor's Degree. Searching for a job should not be this difficult. And it should be different from the last four (or more) years of searching for a summer job. Sadly, it is not.

I have applied many places....they all say when asked if they are hiring, "well, we are always taking applications, here fill one out". Translation: "We are not hiring, but will lead you on and never call you back". Sometimes when asked they will respond with, "Some of our people will be leaving and we will have some positions opening soon". Translation: "We will get your hopes up thinking we might actually call you back, but really we don't care about you so don't bother". Or such has been my experience thus far.

So on it goes. They say persistence in the key, but in my persistence my application and/or other important paper work has either been lost or failed to be submitted; failure on their part, not mine. Anyway, it has only been a week, but I am going crazy! Too much free time and no money! arr!

Otherwise, I am loving living down here. The house is pretty nice and I mom got me two goldfish--Gonzo and Beaker-- they are so cute. :) It is a good start for pets since I can't have a dog...yet.... :) Speaking of dogs. If you really want one, but can't have one, do NOT watch the clips of Breed All About It on the Animal Planet website. BAD IDEA. oops. :P

well, I should get back to job searching and filling out those super-fun applications! *sigh*

Holy Crap, I'm Done.

No more homework. No more papers. I don't think it has really sunk in yet.

I graduated from college. woah. I am living in MA now, this is the first time in my life that I have not gone home to CO after school. I am like a grown-up or something. ew.

Now begins the job search. I started today, I am stalking Barnes and Noble cause I really want to work there. I have filled out numerous applications and today I gave one right to the manager and talked to her a bit. I hope I got it across to her that I really want this job. I was going to search and apply for more jobs, but I lost motivation and went to Old Navy (Mike found a $20 gift card in the hall while helping me more out of the dorms) and Trader Joe's instead. It started to rain too, so I had soup for lunch and decided to chill and unpack some more. I have so much stuff it is ridiculous.

I like it here. I am excited to be living out here and not have to commute to see Mike. I was really ready to move on from college and this is the perfect transition. I think I will adjust nicely.

I also have to buy a new computer. My laptop decided to stop turning on about 2 weeks before graduation. We figured out that is was the motherboard that went kaput, which would be about $600 maybe to replace--not worth it. So I am going to use some of my graduation money to buy myself a new desktop. :)

Let's see...not too much else going on. I am hoping to have a job and a computer within the next few weeks and then I will feel better down here. I hope I can get a job quickly because I am going to get bored really quickly without one!
