Camp, here I come!

I got the camp job! woohoo!

I am a unit leader at a Girl Scout Day Camp and I am so excited! Unfortunately, I did not know that this camp does not end until August 10th and so I had a cancel my week vacation with Mike and mom up at Lake George. :( We are still going up for Aunt Kathy's wedding, but we were going to stay an extra week. Oh well, maybe we can figure out another vacation to have. I am very happy about this job though. Canceling the vacation would have been a lot worse if I wasn't excited for this job.

Anyway, hooray for having a job.

Cross Your Fingers

Well, still no job...yet. I had two interviews, one for Aubuchon Hardware and one at a Girl Scout Day camp. Both went well, I think the camp one went better.

The Aubuchon Manager was very nice and we got along, the interview lasted about 30 minutes, but the pay isn't great and the store isn't air conditioned, not too serious, but something to consider.

The camp one lasted an hour and 15 minutes and I didn't even realize I was there for so long. The Director who interviewed me and I hit it off right away and I actually had fun at the interview. :) I felt so comfortable there, not afraid or anything. :) I was actually interviewing for three different positions that are available at the camp. One is the Admin. assistant, mainly being there to run around since one of the directors is pregnant with twins and can't run. It would be doing the weekly shopping for the camp and other random stuff. There is a Unit Leader position available as well. This position sounds like fun. It is one step above the counselors, I would be in charge of the unit counselors (two or three) and between 10-20 girls in each unit. This position would allow me to actually work with one unit of girls of one age group for the whole time. The last position is the craft director. I would create the crafts for each day at camp and teach the units as they came in each day. This position would allow me to work with all of the groups and get to know the kids of all the age groups.
I think the unit leader and the craft director both sound like fun and I hope I get one of them. They would be a lot of work, but so is teaching, it could be great training. The pay is better for the camp, but it is only for the month of July. I would have to find another job for the fall. If this job works out, I was thinking that I could find some babysitting jobs for the end of June and keep applying for positions in August. I am crossing my fingers that I will get this camp job, I think I would love it much more than a hardware store, even if it is short term. Maybe I could go back next summer too if it works out.

Anyway, that is my life at this point. Think happy camp thoughts for me!

tcheuss!
